Cheroot smoking is popular in many parts of Myanmar, especially amongst older women. Many villages supplement their income making these types of cigar from tobacco, corn husk and spices. After satiating myself with the multiple temples of Bagan,I wandered into a nearby village for respite and found this lady also having a break from her daily tasks. Many of the women and children of Myanmar still smear thanaka, a traditional sunscreen/cosmetic paste made from ground bark, on their faces. She was happy to have her photo taken as long as I tried a puff as well.
